Light Sparring Example

Here's an example of LMA light sparring. For Liberation Martial Arts, "light" is not an undefined subjective term but a set of specific conditions. LMA nomenclatures are brief ways to define conditions and ranges. When we say "game," it means the task is dynamic, unscripted, and has specific objectives and clearing conditions. Games are always productive, and practitioners gain something specific from every game. We often set different conditions and aims for each practitioner.

Every practitioner gains from a sparring game, but what is gained is often unique to each individual based on their needs.

Since LMA sparring games are specific, defined, and contextual, we can have safe and fruitful gameplay between varying experience and fitness levels. The practitioner in blue gloves has trained LMA for less than 10 hours. The practitioner in black gloves has trained 30 hours. To use MMA divisions as a size scale, black gloves is a strawweight (115 lb. and below) femme, and blue gloves is a heavyweight (206 lb. and above) man.

Even without knowing our conditions for light sparring, you can tell it's light just by watching. However, more than a look, sparring intensity has a sound. Listen to the video to hear what light contact should sound like to calibrate your own light sparring.
