Start by pumping your arms as fast as you can. Notice how, when you remain relaxed, this arm movement naturally engages your hips, allowing for effortless motion. The reverse is also true: when your hips move, your arms follow seamlessly without additional effort. This interconnectedness extends through your entire mind, body, and environment. As your trunk moves, your legs and arms follow in a cycle of free movement, and vice versa. In LMA, we refer to this seamless recycling of energy as wu wei—effortless action.
