A Note on Calf and Foot Development
Power and balance start from the ground up. Whether you're striking or grappling, martial arts demands a lot from your feet and calves. Jumping straight into dynamic and explosive fundamental movements without developing your feet and calves will lead to injury. It can also lead to poor techniques and habits. The feet and calves are the linchpins to your striking.
If you're running to help comrades or escaping a situation, your feet are more important than your fists. This is another reason to develop cardio. You need strong legs to support your comrades.
